Scott Aaronson delivered highlights of his year at OpenAI in his talk: "Artificial Intelligence Safety"

Scott Aaronson - MLL Public Lecture

Scott Aaronson is a theoretical computer scientist and the David J. Bruton Jr. Centennial Professor of Computer Science at UT Austin. For our 2023 Machine Learning Lab Public Lecture, Dr. Aaronson shared thoughts about AI safety, shaped by a year's leave at OpenAI to work at the intersection of AI safety and theoretical computer science. He was met with a packed house to hear what he's been working on, which included a scheme for watermarking the outputs of Large Language Models such as GPT, as well as proposals such as cryptographic backdoors and a theory of AI acceleration risk.
